Chapter 42: A Little Girl’s Dream

Release date: August 5th, 2002

Word count: 31,707

Thoughts: The first kiss between Nadeshiko and Ryuuren that Sakura saw in her dreams may not have been the stuff that dreams are made of since he technically stole it, but it was still funny to read.

I completely forgot about the screening party until Kirei-chan brought it up in connection with the CC episode featuring the Nadeshiko Festival play (does it even have a name?!). I like how Wish-chan writes that Tomoyo's TV screen is almost as large as those at the movie theatres. And once again, Sakura hates seeing herself on screen: “Sakura-chan, what are you doing behind the couch?” Tomoyo asked, dragging her out.

Heehee, slight continuity error. Sakura feels like it's been ages since she spent the night over at Tomoyo's but the last time was only the night before Touya came back to town.

Sakura tried her hand at luring Tomoyo into being interested in Eriol , but Tomoyo didn't take the bait. So many writers don't think twice about shipping E&T but Wish-chan never truly made it happen even if there are going to be some powerful E&T moments in the future.

I completely forgot that we delved deep in Tomoyo's psyche and witness a vulnerable side of her that she keeps under lock and key. It really makes the character well-rounded.

I don't remember this plot point of Kai going missing at all. I love that there are so many elements of NT stil have me mystified.

The journalism sign up scene is endearing to me because of the fanart that I did for the Club prompt. Choosing different fonts to represent the signatures was fun.

There's a moment where Syaoran is reading Sakura's face and answering her without her saying anything. This moment reminded me of the cherry blossom festival scene in CC that S&S shared after Syaoran came late. I'm really looking forward to when the mind reading is going to start!

Neat and respectable Kai was a nice change to the hooligan that we're used to. I highlighted his look in an appendix and there are quite a few fanarts of it too. Meilin's look is also pretty and I forgot it was Sakura's outfit.

It's a lot more interesting to read about Meilin and Kai's visit to Eitoukou now that we have the Kaitou Magician Origins backstory. The same can be said with Kai convincing Miho to see her mother when the journalism club starts volunteering at the hospital. Even Shing gets a mention when the club was bouncing around article ideas.

Nadeshiko and Leon were buried in the same cemetery. He wasn't there to stand beside Nadeshiko and Ryuuren when they went against the Changs, so I wonder why he's close enough now.

Poor Syaoran waited so long for Sakura. I hope he had some good games on his phone to help pass the time. Sakura stood him up for nine hours, but it should have been six because Syaoran arrived at the park at 9 am instead of noon.

I'm so glad that Wish-chan drew a fanart of Sakura under Age. She totally enjoyed herself with Sakura's outfit. I'm glad that Tomoyo managed to squeeze in some fun.

I forgot that Imposter!Mikai first made his appearance in this chapter. The way the dark force managed to deceive Miho is chilling.

If it wasn't for the Yahoo Group, I would have also have forgotten that Meilin was attacked by age on the way to the airport. It was a comment that was brought up after Meilin took a cab to the airport by herself in CCS:CC when she left Japan.

I'm terrible at deciphering Riddle's poems but I feel that "A Pampered Girl" hints at Eron crossing over to the light side. Feel free to clarify if I'm wrong!

Fanart spotlight: This was such a tough chapter to pick the fanart spotlight for but ultimately I chose Mesel's graveyard scene. Mesel has contributed so much art over the years but this is the first time I can feature her on this blog. While there actually is a lot of fanart inspired by Kai and Meilin's date, I like this one for Kai's vulnerability and because we get a nice shot of the back of Meilin's outfit.
